    This is one practitioner's personal selection of texts, videos and practices that have helped him but he is very happy to consider other books etc. for inclusion on this list.  Just email feedback if you want to suggest something or mention it in a comment.  The philosophy of this page is to ignore any book that may have a bit of occult gee-whizzery but does not say you have to change inside.  Whereas any book that really has something to say about the changes we all have to make in ourselves is what I want to see on this list.  Because to actually enact the changes we need to make in ourselves is the main issue for all of us.

    Reading these books is not a substitute for stalking yourself or recapitulation but they are all useful aids in that process as they point out things you may not otherwise have noticed and may give a useful different perspective.

    Often the spritual agenda within these books etc. is about making progress within the wheel of birth, death and afterlife. Yet progress for many of us starts with transforming the tonal and it is in that aspect that our agendas match that of these books etc. Many of us are full of illusions about ourselves and these media can help dispel some of these illusions.

    Byron Katie's Loving What Is - How Four Questions Can Change Your Life is a transformational work of immense power. We have a tendency to belief nonsense. She shows how to actually clear all the nonsensical beliefs inside ourselves. Strongly recommended for us all.

    The Diamond in your Pocket by Gangaji is not well edited and 3 introductions is a mistake but nevertheless one of the best texts on the importance and value of inner silence that you will ever find.

  • The Thousand Petal Lotus and the Kundalini

    This illustration of the Buddha's head shows the Thousand Petal Lotus and the Kundalini emerging from the centre of the flower. This is a representation of the human ideal. The Thousand Petal lotus is the Crown Chakra and the statue is representing an energetic possibility. But that energetic possibility is available to us all, it is not a mere abstraction. The easy way to achieve this is to upload the energy of Shakti (the female energy of the universe in early Hindu thinking) through you. This energy will clean your subtle energy channels and clean the channel permitting the kundalini to rise gently in a controlled way as it should. The simple way to do this is to chant the Tripura Sundari mantra every day. This mantra is the song that actualises the energy of Shakti. There is a group on Second Life who do this together at 3:30pm UK time except Sundays when it is at 3pm (in fact, 7:30am California/SL time everyday except Sunday when it is at 7am) and routine can help us all. To do this on Second Life, download a Second Life Viewer. I recommend the Exodus Viewer but there are a dozen others. Create an SL identity, join the group United Spirits Network (which will give you a daily invite to the chant), enable voice and come along. For a basic avatar, SL is free. If you want to spend money on your avatar or do other things than this chant, then you have behaviour to stalk.

    This book The School for Gods by Stefano E. D'Anna shows what transforming the tonal can achieve and how difficult it is. D'Anna's teacher is the only person in literature with the same ruthlessness, cunning, patience and sweetness as don Juan himself. A great book for anyone trying to change.
