    PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM BRISTOL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BRS)
    The Bristol International Flyer bus runs from the airport to Bristol Temple Meads railway station at 15 minute intervals (the railway station is not the end of the bus route so be sure to get off at the right stop). The return fare costs £8 (return ticket can be used within one month). The journey takes 25 minutes. At Bristol Temple Meads station you can take a train to Bath Spa station (London direction). Ticket costs about £5. The journey from Bristol Temple Meads to Bath takes about 15 minutes. No advance purchase necessary. At Bath Spa railway station it is necessary to transfer to the bus stop for the 18/410/418 route to the University campus . Come out of the front of the railway station and turn left into Dorchester Street, then turn right into Corn Street. The bus stop is on your right. For a map of this area see bus map and info

    THE LONDON AIRPORTS (LHR, LGW, STN, LTN, LCY) There is a wider choice of flights to the various London airports and fares to these airports from Europe may sometimes be cheaper. The London airports are: Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Luton (LTN), Stansted (STN) and City Airport (LCY). The closest of these to Bath is Heathrow airport.

    Please note all ticket prices quoted below are approximate and are subject to change. In the UK train fares can be very expensive when tickets are not bought in advance. Bus tickets may be bought on the day at the ticket office, usually at the price indicated. The cheapest option for bus tickets is to buy a return (round-trip) ticket where you specify your precise return journey (called an Economy return). Bus journey times can be longer than scheduled when traffic conditions are poor, ample time would need to be allowed to catch return flights, particularly from Gatwick, Luton and Stansted where it is necessary to use the beltway (M25) around London. Travel timings by train should be more reliable.

    There is a direct bus from Heathrow airport to Bath. It costs £26.70 return fare. Journey time 2hr 30mins on direct services. Service runs at 90 minute intervals. Direct (but stopping) service.     Rail from Stansted airport to Bath Spa station via London Liverpool Street and London Paddington (tickets include transit by London underground between these stations). Journey time 3 hours.     The bus from Luton airport to Bath costs £36 return fare. Journey time 4hr 30 mins. Change buses at Heathrow.
    Rail from Luton airport via London St Pancras and London Paddington. Journey time 3 hours. Return fare £57.

    The bus from Gatwick airport to Bath costs £34 return fare. Journey time from 4hr 30mins. Change buses at Heathrow. Rail from Gatwick airport via Reading (n.b. not via London). Journey time 2hrs 30 mins. Return fare £43.

    SEA CROSSINGS, The most convenient sea ports for Bath are Portsmouth (to Le Havre) and Poole (to Cherbourg). The price for a car and 2 persons on the Portsmouth route costs from £79 return fare www.ldlines.co.uk (cheapest fares for early bookings). It is also possible to cross the Channel at Dover by ferry or at Folkestone by Eurotunnel www.eurotunnel.com Drive time to Bath from Dover or Folkestone approximately 5 hours.
